1. Service Description: Customers can participate in the book trade at our bookstore during weekdays, Monday through Friday. The bookstore will not accept book trades on weekends. In this book trade customers can qualify for either an 8-1 trade or a 4-1 trade. Customers will then trade 8 or 4 books for 1 free book of their choice.

2. 8-1 Trade: For every 8 items in acceptable or better condition a customer brings in they receive 1 free item of their choice. This includes movies, books, or DVDs. If a customer trades in books they may choose any item in the store for trade, excluding book bundles, individually tagged items, or book specials (blind date with a book, gift wrapped books, etc). If a customer trades in media like DVDs or CDs they may choose any media item for free. Traded media can not be exchanged for books. We do not accept VHS for trade. Retold Tales Used Bookstore employees make the final decisions on any and all trades

3. 4-1 Trade: For every 4 books that are recently published, high in demand, or in near perfect condition, a customer may qualify for a reduced exchange rate. If a customer meets these conditions, which are subject to change at any time without prior notification, they may receive one free item of their choosing, excluding book bundles, individually tagged items, or book specials (blind date with a book, gift wrapped books, etc). Media does not qualify for a 4-1 Trade. Retold Tales Used Bookstore employees make the final decisions on any and all trades.

4. Trade-In Timeframe: We do not keep a record of trades. Trades are invalid after leaving the store. All selections must be within the same visit.

5. Not Accepted for Trade: Magazines, encyclopedias, VHS, puzzles, Harlequin, Avon, Silhouette, Love Inspired, Reader’s Digest, Danielle Steele, Nora Roberts, Stuart Woods, Mary Higgins Clark, Sandra Brown, Tom Clancy, W.E.B. Griffin, Patricia Cornwell, Janette Evanovich, and Debbie Macomber. This list is subject to change at any time and without warning.

6. Final Trades Only: Retold Tales Used Bookstore is not responsible for lost or damaged items during the trade-in process. Customers are encouraged to handle items with care and respect when transporting. Any and all damages which occur as a result of transport is the responsibility of the customer. Customers are also encouraged to supervise the entire trade-in process to ensure that all items being traded are correct. Any accidental trades are the responsibility of the customer.

7. Trade Refusals: Retold Tales Used Bookstore reserves the right to refuse any trade-in for any reason at any time. We will automatically refuse a trade if: the items do not meet the specified criteria, the trade would not benefit the store's inventory, the spine is cracked too much, there is an overpowering smell, the items are more than dusty (physically dirty, moldy, filmy, greasy), there is any evidence of living creatures which might damage our existing inventory (mice, spiders, moths, etc.), there is evidence of extreme water damage (as it may develop into/have mold present), or any other reason to be determined by Retold Tales staff at any point in time.

1. Service Description: Customers can provide information about a specific title, genre, or subject, that we do not have available in store. If we come across the title naturally (it is donated, traded, or found in back storage) we will call the customer and place the item on hold.

2. How to Request a Book: Book requests are made in person or over the phone. Please call our store at (573) 896-0241 or visit us at 176b Simon Boulevard, Holts Summit MO. Please do not use the book finding form for book requests.

2. Book Request v. Book Finding Service: The main difference between the book request and book finding service is the time put in to locate a specific title. When a book is requested it is sourced from our currently existing inventory, our back storage, or from donations/trades. If a book is requested through the book finding service, we do not have it available in our inventory and our book finder contacts other online sellers/antique dealers on the customers behalf. Book requests are also free, where the book finding service has a $4.99 finders fee.

3. Information Needed: If a customer is requesting a specific title they will need to provide their full first and last name, a phone number, the title’s author, the title, as well as any other key notes or details such as special editions, specific covers, etc. If the customer does not have parts of this information, Retold Tales Used Bookstore will still process the book request. The book will be placed on hold under the name provided at the time of the request. There is no time limit on book holds.

1. Service Description: Any receipts from the Holts Summit True Value Hardware Store located next to Retold Tales Used Bookstore may be used to redeem either 1 free book or 10% off your purchase.

2. Service Exceptions: Receipts do not count for a free book when: the book is included in a book bundle, the book is a special item (blind date with a book, gift wrapped books, etc), the book is individually priced, or the value of the item is greater than $6.00. Receipts will qualify for 10% any purchase including any of the previously excluded items.
